HELLO! Welcome to my web site!

I hope you enjoy my books, Widow of Sighing Pines, and The Dodge Land Troubles, 1868-1923, the latter of which I co-authored with Chris Trowell. They are "companion books," in that they both focus on the "Dodge Years" in the three-rivers area of Georgia during the latter part of the 1800s, when the William E. Dodge family of New York arrived in the area with questionable deeds to over 300,000 acres of some of the finest longleaf yellow pine timber in the world. The local people had their own deeds, so a land war ensued, and people on both sides were killed. Widow of Sighing Pines is a love story, set during the post-Reconstruction years 1891-1895, perhaps the most tumultuous period of the Dodge presence in the area. According to comments from many readers of the novel, the highlight of the book is the perilous rafting trip down the Ocmulgee and Altamaha rivers. To prepare for writing the novel, I spent many hours on the rivers, traveling by canoe, kayak, and motorboat. You may read an excerpt of the novel by clicking on the excerpt icon. You may order any of my books by emailing me at JaneWriter51@yahoo.com. You may send a check or a money order for any of the books.  Happy reading!
